Benchmark 1: Writing a report by organizing important information and expressing different points of view.- In my science 9 report, I wrote about the stars and I wrote about the certain stars in the universe that are red giants and how many stars are in the universe.
Benchmark 2: Writing legibly, using correct spelling and grammar.- In my report on the stars in Science 9, I used correct grammar and legibility to not only make the paper readable, but to also make it so that the paper made sense and flowed together.
Benchmark 8: Presenting a report and answering questions- In my Business Presentations class, I presented a report on how to make a homemade gel ice pack and answered any of the questions that anyone had for me on what the ratio is with the water and rubbing alcohol or the freezing point.
Benchmark 11: Combining and using a variety of information sources: Manuals, maps, charts, graphs. - In science 9b, one of my questions on my chapter review was to draw and double the original graph in the picture in the book.
Benchmark 12: Performing basic calculations- In advisory, we did basic calculations to figure out the area and surface area of certain items in the classroom. We also found the circumference of the clock. We went around the room with rulers and meter sticks to make sure we got the measurements we needed to get the right answer.
Benchmark 13: Calculating fractions, percentages, and decimals. - Just as in the previous benchmark, this assignment had us calculating the measurements using fractions, and calculating them into decimals to get to the answer of the question. We used inches, millimeters, formulas, and we also had to find out the circumference and surface area and area of objects in the classroom which the measurements either came out as fractions and the answers came out as decimals.
Benchmark 15: Using U.S. and metric measures- In this assignment we used inches, feet, & millimeters to get the answers to these questions. using whatever measurements that would get us the correct answer. Those being inches, mm, and ft.
Benchmark 21: Using scientific process, hypothesis testing, data collecting, and analysis to solve problems. - In this assignment, we had to figure out how many water droplets would fit on the surface of a penny with and without soap on it. We had to create a hypothesis and test it to see if our hypothesis was correct or incorrect.
Benchmark 24: Applying knowledge of earth, life, and physical sciences in work settings.- In advisory, we had to dissect soil that was collected and find what kind of organic and inorganic material it was made of, and we to put anything that was crawling in the collection tube and look at it under the scope when we had the chance to.
Benchmark 26: Recognizing and defining problems.- In advisory, we had to recognize and define the problems of pollution and listen for the possible solutions to pollution. Those being solar energy, wind energy, algae, and I believe the other one was hydro (water) energy.
